A drug suspect was wounded in a gun scuffle with a policeman during a buy-bust operation in Quezon City while 19 others were arrested in separate anti-illegal drug operations in the city.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. identified the wounded suspect as Reggie Punzalan, 23, of Bgy. Gulod, Novaliches.
The report said that at 10:30 p.m. on November 3, 2018, while policemen of PS 4 were conducting Oplan Galugad, they reportedly caught Punzalan with three companions in the act of sniffing shabu at house no. 40 on Maligaya Extn., Bgy. Gulod.
However, during the arrest, Punzalan reportedly grabbed the service firearm of PO1 Norman Borromeo. During the scuffle, the gun went off, hitting the suspect in the left ankle and was rushed to Novaliches District Hospital. Confiscated were five sachets of shabu, an aluminum foil strip and an improvised tooter.
Punzalan’s three cohorts managed to escape and are now the object of police manhunt.
Operatives of Masambong Police Station (PS 2) arrested 3 drug suspects in a buy-bust operation at around 2 p.m. on Nov. 3 at 155 Gomez St., Bgy. Paltok. A concerned citizen reported an ongoing shabu session in the area and when validated, the suspects were caught in the act of sniffing shabu. Confiscated were three sachets of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Batasan Police Station (PS 6) arrested four suspects in a buy-bust operation at 8 p.m., along Sorsogon St., Group 6, Bgy. Payatas. Seized were 11 sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.
Another buy-bust operation was conducted by PS 6 operatives in Bgy. Payatas that resulted in the arrest of three drug suspects. A concerned citizen tipped off the police about the alleged illegal gambling activity of the suspects. When validated, the officers caught them playing video karera. Police found sachet of shabu when told to empty their pockets.
Operatives of Cubao Police Station (PS 7) arrested two persons under Oplan Galugad at about 12:50 a.m. on November 4 at 220 P. Tuazon St., Bgy. Socorro, Cubao. They were caught sniffing shabu. Confiscated were a sachet of shabu, an opened sachet with traces of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Anonas Police Station (PS 9) operatives arrested Rodolfo Valentino, 50, of Bgy. Pansol, at 12 p.m. on Nov. 3, in Block 2B, Kaingin 1, Bgy. Pansol. PS 9 operatives were conducting surveillance in the area when they saw the suspect acting suspiciously. When accosted, he yielded four sachets of shabu.
Also, PS 9 operatives arrested William Gadil, 37, of Bgy. UP Campus, at 5:45 p.m. on Nov. 3, after a concerned citizen reported the illegal drug activity of the suspect in his residence at Pook Malinis St. The suspect was caught in the act of sniffing shabu. Confiscated were a sachet of shabu, an unsealed sachet with traces of shabu and drug paraphernalia.
Galas Police Station (PS 11) under Supt. Carlito Mantala arrested Jhosel Uhad, 28, of Sampaloc, Manila, and Wilson Barrieta, 53, of Bgy. Tatalon, at 12:45 a.m. on Nov. 4, on Sto. Tomas St. near corner Cordillera St., Bgy. Don Manuel, after a concerned citizen reported an ongoing drug trade of the suspects. When verified, each of them yielded a sachet of shabu.
Eastwood Police Station (PS 12) under Supt. Camlon Nasdoman arrested Freddie Abalos, 23, of Pasig City at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 3, along ERJR southbound C5 Road, Bgy. Bagumbayan. Patrolling officers spotted the suspect while violating SP-2612, S-2017 or the Anti-Barker Ordinance. When frisked, he yielded a sachet of shabu.
The drug suspects were charged with violation of RA 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
