CAMP Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet -- Police Regional Office-Cordillera (PRO-COR) director Chief Supt. Rolando Z. Nana announced yesterday that PRO-COR arrested 19 gamblers in Baguio City during the intensified crackdown on illegal gambling in the city.
Chief Supt. Nana said personnel of Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station 7, City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) and City Investigation and BCPO Detection Management Unit (CIDMU), arrested 15 gamblers who were caught in the act of playing drop ball along Otek St., Sunday night.
Also arrested were Santos Agustin, 23, Aries Ignacio Vicente, 31, Jaype Ganonot Matias, 33, Carlo Dina Mariano Torres, 35, Michael Ponce Cabigao, 40, Andy Tuvias Divina, 48, John Mark Magdadaro Lim, 22, Jonathan Aspiras Medina, 37, Alisod Gamor Maruhom, 35, Franklin Uniciano Andrada, 43, Jonathan Gayeb Moreno, 41, and Ranfy Pablo Puguon, 46, all residents of Baguio City; Jay Valdez Pascual, 28, resident of Pangasinan; Tony Benitez Tamiles, 44, from Quezon City and Rolando Abalos, 47, of Nueva Viscaya.
Seized from the suspects were P29,235 in different denominations, three Cattleya notes, 3 black ballpens; 2 stainless “Imbudo”, 3 wooden dice, 3 plastic baskets, 2 rectangular boards, 4 rectangular boards, rectangular shape plywood, wooden box, 2 cellular phones, a black sling bag and white plastic balls.
In another operation after tipped information, four gamblers were caught in the act of playing cards at the 3rd floor of Batawa Building, Agrix Bokawkan, Baguio City on the same day by joint personnel of BCPO Station 2, Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU) and City Intelligence Unit (CIU).
Arrested were Julius Guerero David, 40, Simon Oydot Allasiw, 55, Reynaldo Siblawan Sobilla, 34, and John Badal Aplasen, 36, all residents of La Trinidad, Benguet.
Confiscated from the suspects possessions were P1,200 in bet money, 52 plastic playing cards and other gambling paraphernalia.
All the arrested personalities and the seized items were placed under the custody of the concerned operating units while charges for illegal gambling were filed against them in court.
