AGENTS of the Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) late night Thursday rescued unharmed two Chinese nationals believed to have been kidnapped-for-ransom by members of a casino loan shark syndicate in Las Piñas City, PNP-AKG director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo announced yesterday.
In a report to PNP Officer-in-Charge, Lieutenant Gen. Archie Francisco F. Gamboa, the official said Wu You and Xiao Jun were rescued inside a house in Jasmin Almanza Dos in Las Piñas City which was raided by AKG operatives led by Lieutenant Colonel Leo Canuel at 10:50 p.m. Thursday.
Estomo said a Filipino national identified as Saturnino Matias was arrested during the raid after he was found to be the one guarding the two Chinese kidnapping victims.
According to the PNP-AKG director, he ordered the rescue operation following a complaint from 27-year old Chinese national Cheng Zhipeng who went to their headquarters on Thursday afternoon to complain that he had been kidnapped and that two of his fellow victims were still being held captive.
Zhipeng told PNP-AKG investigators that he was working in an online casino located at Village Square in Alabang, Muntinlupa City until he was abducted and detained for seven days by henchmen of the casino.
Acting on the information, PNP-AKG operatives, in coordination with the Las Piñas City Police Station went to Room 310 of a building in Jasmin Almanza Dos where they found the two Chinese nationals and arrested their guard who was later identified as Matias, a 37-year-old resident of Barangay Lipay in Villasis, Pangasinan.
The two Chinese nationals and Matias were brought to the PNP-AKG headquarters in Camp Crame for further investigation shortly after the anti-kidnapping operation.
It was the latest operation to be conducted by the PNP-AKG against casino loan shark syndicates whose members are known for abducting those who have failed to pay them their huge gambling debt complete with daily interest or kidnapping their compatriots working in their companies after they decided to quit their work and failed to pay money demanded from them by the ring.
