2 criminology students yield kilo of marijuana

AT least one kilo of high grade dried marijuana leaves was seized by authorities from two criminology students in a buy-bust operation Sunday before dawn in Caloocan city.

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) P/MGen. Debold Sinas lauded the operatives of District Drug Enforcement Unit (DDEU) of the Northern Police District (NPD) for the arrest of Sebastine Kyle De Leon, 20, of Bgy. 137, Zone 12 Balut, Tondo and Nazzer Meraji, 22, of Bgy. 704, Zone 77, San Andres, Malate, Manila which resulted in the confiscation of 1,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops worth P120,000

NPD Director P/Brig. Gen. Ronald Ylagan said the operation stemmed from an intelligence operation conducted by operatives of DDEU and District Special Operation Unit (DSOU) led by P/Capt. Ramon Aquiatan, Jr.

At around 1 a.m. the suspects were arrested by DDEU operatives after they handed a pack of dried marijuana leaves to a police poseur-buyer in front of a Mercury Drug store in EDSA, Monumento Circle in exchange for P30,000 worth of marked money.

When frisked, another large brick size of dried marijuana leaves fruiting tops wrapped with transparent cling wrapper, a cellular phone and marked money consisting of a P1,000 genuine bill and 29 pieces of boodle money were seized from the suspects.

I commend the successful buy bust operation by NPD that led to the seizure of a kilo of suspected marijuana. This again is another step towards a drug-free Metro,” Sinas said.
