TWO armed ‘high-value’ drug targets in Metro Manila were killed in a gunbattle with agents of the National Capital Region Police Office Regional Drug Enforcement Unit shortly after they conspired to sell a kilo of shabu worth P6.8 million to an undercover officer in Pasig City early morning yesterday, NCRPO director, Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said.
Suspects Jalal Mamariala Salamoden alias ‘Bon Jovie,’ a resident of Block 29, Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City and Sampiano Usman Rason alias ‘Sonny,’ of Laurel Street, Gate 1, Lifehome Subdivision in Barangay Rosario, Pasig City yielded a caliber .45 and a cal. .9mm semi-automatic pistol during the shootout in front of a convenience store along Felix Avenue corner Kabayanihan St. in Bgy. dela Paz at 2:01 in the morning.
According to Eleazar, the two suspects who were believed to be members of the notorious Amin Boratong Drug Group were on board a motorcycle when they sensed they were dealing with an undercover policeman and immediately opened fire at the poseur before fleeing towards Kabayanihan St. where officers engaged them in a firefight resulting to their death.
Recovered during the anti-narcotics operation were five plastic sachets each containing 200 grams of the so-called ‘poor man’s cocaine’ worth P6.8 million, a cal. .45 American Classic pistol, a cal. 9mm Norinco pistol, two magazines containing live ammunition, the P450,000 worth of boodle money topped by some marked P1,000 bills and the suspects’ motorbike.
Eleazar said the two slain suspects have been the subject of surveillance by members of the NCRPO-RDEU headed by Lt. Col.Rogarth Campo due to their involvement in big-time drug trafficking activities in Pasig City and other parts of Metro Manila.
