2 drug traders collared

AUTHORITIES arrested two alleged big time drug traders and seized from them more than P.6 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation before dawn yesterday in Malabon City.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Jessie Tamayao identified the arrested suspects as Marlon Solano alias “Bumbay” 32 of Blk 54 Lot 21, Phase 3F2 Dagat-dagatan, Caloocan City and Matthew Von Erick Soriano, 24, of Bgy. 12 Caloocan City.

Col. Tamayao said that earlier at around 3 a.m. operatives of Station Drug Enforcement Team led by P/Lt. Zoilo Arquillo conducted a buy-bust operation against the suspects at the corner of Teachers Village and Pla-Pla St. in Bgy. Longos following a week-long surveillance operation on their illegal drug activities.

When the suspects handed a pack of shabu to an undercover cop in exchange for P1,000 marked money, Lt. Arquillo ordered his men to accost the two before they managed to flee.

When frisked, the suspects yielded 23 pieces of heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing more thant 100 grams of shabu with an estimated street value worth P680,000 and the buy-bust money.

Col. Tamayao said his men are now conducting a follow-up investigation to determine where Solano and Soriano got their supply of illegal drugs while charges for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerou Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office.
