ONE HUNDRED and 35 homes were gutted while 60 families were displaced during two fire incidents that took place in Manila the other day.
The Manila Fire Department (MFD) said that at around 7:45 a.m., fire hit a residential area on Yuseco Street, Barangay 221, Zone 21 in Sta. Cruz, Manila. No one was injured in the said fire which reached third alarm and was put under control at 8:30 a.m.
A probe by Fire Chief Inspector Joselito Reyes of the Bureau of Fire Protection said the quick response of firefighters helped stop the fire from spreading.
At least 75 houses were razed while 15 more were damaged in the said fire.
At 10:56 a.m., fire struck at Blk. 8 Aplaya, Baseco Compound, Barangay 649, Zone 68 in Tondo and was declared under control at 11:51 a.m.
F/Supt. Jonas Silvano also of the BFP said two men were injured when they tried to retrieve things from their burning homes. A total of 60 houses were razed to the ground.
The affected houses in both fire incidents were said to be made of light materials and arson investigators are yet to establish what caused them.
