TWO men were killed in separate shooting incidents before dawn yesterday and Sunday night in Caloocan and Navotas cities.
Alfonso Tubilla, 45, of Nicdao Compound, Bgy. 178, Camarin, Caloocan City, died on the spot from bullet wounds in the head while the unidentified suspect escaped on a motorcycle driven by his cohort.
Caloocan police deputy chief for administration Supt. Ferdie del Rosario said Tubilla was playing billiards along Durian St. in front of NJ Yalong Market in Bgy. 178, Camarin, when two men on board a motorcycle arrived at around 1 a.m.
The back rider, wearing bull cap and jacket, alighted, went inside the billiard hall and shot the victim twice in the head, killing him instantly. Two empty shells for unknown caliber of firearm were recovered by police at the crime scene.
Earlier at around 10 p.m. Sunday, Nikkie Mercado, 27, of 100 Interior St., Bgy. Bagumba-yan South, Navotas City, was killed by unidentified suspects along C-3 Road in front of Tracer’s Trucking, Phase 2, Area 1, Bgy. North Bay Boulevard South.
Navotas police chief Senior Supt. Ramchri-sen Haveria Jr. said a witness, who refused to be identified, said he heard successive gunshots and later found the bloodied victim slumped on the pavement.
“Nagpaalam lang siya na may pupuntahan noong Linggo ng umaga pero hindi na nakabalik nang buhay,” the victim’s mother, Rhodora Talaugon, said.
Police are still conducting a follow-up operation for possible identification and arrest of the suspects in the twin killings while the motives are yet to be determined.
