TWO male suspects were shot dead after they allegedly engaged policemen from the Manila Police District-Station 1 in an armed encounter when the latter tried to stop them at a checkpoint on Road 10 in Tondo, Manila.
SPO3 Charles John Duran of the MPD-Homicide Section said the suspects were aged between 20 and 30, both about 5’4” tall and remain unidentified.
It was learned that at around 3:50 p.m. the other day, the two were being stopped at a police checkpoint on R-10 when they suddenly counterflowed. Police pursued them but were allegedly fired upon by the suspects, giving the cops no choice but to shoot back.
Prior to this, victim Marhorie Munoz, 19, of Tambunting Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila, reported that two men -- who turned out to be the two slain suspects
-- forcibly took her white motorcycle while she was driving it at around 3:20 a.m. on H. Lopez Boulevard in Balut, Tondo.
A checkpoint was immediately put up on R-10 until the two suspects came along aboard two separate motorcycles, one of which belonged to the victim.
The duo were rushed to the nearest hospital following the shootout and were declared dead on arrival. Recovered from them were a .38 revolver, 9mm -cal. gun, five sachets of shabu and the victim’s motorcycle.
