TWO motorcycle-riding teenage suspects shot and injured an 18-year-old boy who earlier figured in an argument with the victim’s younger brother over a woman in Pasig City, Sunday morning, police said.
Reports reaching Pasig police chief Senior Supt. Rizalito Gapas said the suspects, aged 15 and 16, were arrested by elements of Pasig Police Community Precinct (PCP-8) headed by Insp. Cayetano during a follow-up operation.
The two teenagers reportedly shot and injured one Donn Juven Martinez, 18, second year student who is now under observation at Rizal Medical Center due to gunshot wounds in his feet.
Initial investigation showed that the victim, with his 16-year-old brother and his girlfriend, had just alighted from a tricycle on M.H.Del Pilar St., Purok Camia, Bgy. Pinagbuhatan at around 1:30 a.m. when the teenage suspects riding on a motorcycle suddenly arrived.
The 16-year-old suspect who was driving the motorcycle with the 15-year-old back rider armed with unknown firearm, approached the trio and started shooting them.
Police said the trio immediately hid behind a parked car but the suspects followed them and repeatedly shot them again, hitting Martinez.
The teenagers then immediately escaped on their motorcycle but were nabbed after several hours.
SPO1 Abigail Saguid, of the Pasig Police Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD), said that prior to the shooting, the 15-year-suspect allegedly had an argument with the 16-year-old brother of the victim over a woman.
Saguid said the suspects’ supposed target was the younger brother of the victim but because of anger, the armed suspect went into shooting spree.
The suspects are now in the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development. It was learned that the 15-year-old suspect had also been in a similar case when he was 14 years old.
