TWO suspected armed robbers were killed in a gunbattle with police at dawn yesterday in Bgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. said the slain suspects have yet to be identified. One of them was about 25 to 30 years old, wearing black jacket, black short pants, black cap and black mask while the other suspect was about 30 to 35 years old and also wearing a black jacket with blue inner shirt and cargo short pants.
A report gathered from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit of the QCPD said that at around 12:45 a.m. yesterday, the armed suspects robbed three victims of their cellphones and cash in front of 3K Gen. Merchandise at 8 Saint Anthony St., Bgy. Holy Spirit.
The suspects immediately escaped while the victims reported the incident to the Batasan Police Station, which conducted a pursuit operation.
An information led policemen to pursue the suspects along AFP Road, Bgy. Holy Spirit.
Police flagged down the suspects, but instead of stopping, they opened fired at the pursuing lawmen, triggering a brief shootout and the death of the suspects.
The victims positively identified the suspects as the ones who robbed and took away their cellphones and cash.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) investigators recovered from the suspects two cal. .38 revolvers, a green sling bag containing assorted cellular phones, eight sachets of shabu and a Yamaha Mio.
