TWO suspected robbers died in separate encounters with policemen at dawn yesterday in Quezon City.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr., described the slain suspect in the first encounter as about 30-40 years old, 5’7” tall, wearing red bull cap and gray jacket.
The report said around 3 a.m. Sept. 17, 2018, La Loma Police Station (PS 1) received a telephone call from PNP Hotline 911 regarding a robbery-holdup along A. Bonifacio Avenue, Bgy. Paang Bundok and gave description of the suspect.
Operatives of Tactical Motorcycle Riders (TMR) of PS 1 quickly responded and upon reaching Iba St., they saw a man that matched the description given to them. The operatives where about to accost the man but he pulled out his firearm and fired towards the policemen. A shootout ensued that resulted in the death of the suspect.
Recovered from the suspect were a Smith and Wesson cal. .38 revolver with three live ammunition, two fired cartridges for cal. .38, a backpack containing various cellphone chargers, a rusty knife and three sachets of shabu.
Another encounter at 3:30 a.m. on Sept.17 on Kalye Onse, Agham Rd., Bgy. Pag-asa resulted in the death of Luis Aligado, alias Dodong, 18, of Madrigal St., San Roque, Bgy. Bagong Pag-asa.
Operatives of the District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) under Supt. Gil Torralba were conducting follow-up operation against members of “Ang Robbery Group” when they checked upon a group of men. However, Aligado pulled out a handgun and fired at the operatives, triggering a brief shootout while the other suspects ran away. Aligado was brought to East Avenue Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.
Recovered from the suspect were an Armscor cal. .38 revolver with defaced serial number with three live ammunition, two fired cartridge cases and a sachet of shabu.
Esquivel commended the QCPD station commanders and their men for their quick response to the incidents and their persistent effort in keeping the peace and order in Quezon City.
