TWO students from the Far Eastern University (FEU) were arrested by policemen assigned at the University Belt Area-Police Community Precint (UBA-PCP) after a 19-year-old student claimed to have been raped by them and filed a complaint.
Brought to the Manila Police District-Station 4 were suspects Nicole Gonzales, alias ‘Nick’, 21, of 681 SH Loyola St., Sampaloc, Manila and Justine Mari Angelo Jacela, 23, of 1118 Dniper Bldg., Sta. Ana, Manila. They denied the charges.
In a report from the office of Colonel Robert Domingo, station commander of the MPD-PS4, the incident took place between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. inside Room 204 of the Cosmo Hotel located at the corner of P. Campa Street and Espana Boulevard in Sampaloc, Manila.
The victim claimed that she and her friends were having a drinking spree at the Lakay’s Billiard on P. Paredes Street also in Sampaloc when the suspects arrived and joined them.
When the drinking session was finished at around 4 a.m., they decided to check in at a hotel to rest, taking two rooms so the girls could sleep separately from the boys.
The victim told the police that when she fell asleep, Gonzales went to their room and then told her friend to get out and transfer to the other room.
When Gonzales raped her, the victim said she was not able to fight back since she was drunk. Once Gonzales was done, Jacela allegedly went in and tried to do the same thing but did not finish it.
As soon as the suspects fell asleep, the victim said she went straight to the UBA-PCP to seek police assistance, resulting in the arrest of the two, who have been charged with violation of the anti-rape law.
