2 teeners arrested over motorbike theft

TWO teenagers from Las Piñas City were taken into custody by agents of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 4-A for stealing a motorcycle parked unattended by its owner in Makati City last August 22, a report to Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group director, Brigadier General Eliseo DC Cruz said yesterday.

RHU4-A chief, Lieutenant Colonel Joel Ana, said the two male suspects, both 16-years old, were caught on CCTV camera stealing a Yamaha Mio with plate no. 4140 PE while it was parked unattended in Barangay Pio del Pilar in Makati City.

Ana said that around 3 p.m. last Monday, members of the RHPU4-A Special Operations Team and the Cavite Provincial Highway Patrol Team led by Captain Ric Russel Oñate and Major Gemuel Cortina recovered the stolen motorbike in Bgy. Calumpang Lejos in Indang, Cavite.

“Our intelligence personnel monitored the presence of the stolen motorcycle being sold thru social media by one Mark Cruto of Indang, Cavite,” the official said.

Ana said that a follow-up operation in Bgy. Pulang Lupa in Las Piñas City resulted in the apprehension of the two minors who were identified as the two persons who stole the motorbike in Makati City and tried to sell the vehicle in Cavite.

On Thursday, the two minors were inquested for violation of Republic Act 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016 and Presidential Decree 1612 or the Anti-Fencing Act of 1979.

“We have turned over the two children in conflict with law to the Makati Social Welfare and Development Office,” said Ana.
