Three of the four suspects, who victimized a taxi driver, were gunned down in an encounter with members of the Quezon City Police District on Wednesday morning.
QCPD director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. said the slain suspects have yet to be identified.
It was learned that prior to the incident, taxi driver Eduardo Macaraeg, 56, had two passengers while traversing along Nawasa Lane when four armed suspects flagged them down and at gunpoint took their personal belongings.
Not contented, the suspects forced them to disembark and used the cab as a get away vehicle heading towards Don Antonio Ave., Bgy. Holy Spirit.
The victims sought assistance from PS 6 which immediately dispatched a team to hunt down the suspects.
At about 1:15 a.m., the stolen vehicle was spotted along De Leon St., Bgy. Holy Spirit.
A brief chase ensued until the suspects was cornered.
However, instead of surrendering, the suspects fired at the operatives, prompting them to shoot back, killing three suspects. Their alleged cohort managed to escape.
A Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team recovered a cal. .45 pistol (serial no. 547389) with magazine with live ammunition, a cal. .22 Magnum USA (SN 73737) and one cal. .38 revolver loaded with live ammunition, nine sachets of shabu, a sling bag containing a Samsung tablet and a cellphone and the white BON-JOEFEL taxi (TYK 697).
