3 female drug traffickers get life terms

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group have scored another major court victory with the conviction of three big-time drug traffickers in Metro Manila they arrested for trafficking of P50 million worth of shabu in Muntinlupa City on March 23, 2018, the Journal Group learned yesterday.

“We have again sent three more major drug personalities to jail for life and would like to thank all the persons behind this effort,” said PNP-DEG director, Brigadier General Albert Ignatius D. Ferro who bared a 74.1 percent PNP-DEG conviction rate since its creation two years ago.

Judge Antonietta Pablo-Medina of the Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court Branch 276 sentenced Regina Inocencia San Miguel, 41; Lady Jane Flores Borja, 25; and Norodin Guiamadel Samplidan, 29, after they were all found guilty beyond reasonable doubt for the illegal sale and possession of dangerous drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. The accused were all sentenced to life imprisonment and each were ordered to pay P10 million fine.

The court also found the three guilty beyond reasonable doubts for two counts of illegal possession of dangerous drugs under Section 11 of RA 9165 and sentenced each to suffer the penalty of life imprisonment and to pay a P500,000 penalty for each count.

Judge Pablo-Medina also ordered PDEA chair Director General Aaron N. Aquino to immediately dispose of the dangerous drugs seized from the three. At the same time, she also directed the Branch Clerk of Court to turn over the buy-bust money to the National Treasury and the ‘boodle money’ to the PDEA for proper disposition.
