THREE suspected forgers of official documents were arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in a recent entrapment operation along Recto Avenue in Manila.
NBI Officer-in-Charge Eric B. Distor identified the arrested suspects as Jay Tinio, Jojo Delim, and Abbygail Pascua.
In a statement, the NBI said the suspects’ arrest stemmed from information that they have been selling fake NBI clearances and other government documents such as LTO ID/student permits, PSA birth certificates, and TIN IDs along Recto Avenue.
A surveillance operation conducted by the NBI confirmed the illegal trade, wherein the suspects would ask P2,500 for rush transactions and P500 for non-rush transactions from their customers.
The NBI immediately hatched an entrapment operation February 1, 2021 and a poseur customer went to the area where the suspects usually hang out.
Upon handing over the marked money, operatives immediately arrested the suspects and seized various documents which were believed counterfeit.
Charges for violation of Article 172 in relation to Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code (Falsification of Public Documents) were filed against the suspects before the Office of the City Prosecutor, Manila.Publication Source : People's Tonight
