A buy-bust operation conducted by the police against four notorious drug pushers came into a bloody end after the suspects shot it out with the lawmen, killing three of them, before dawn yesterday in Navotas City.

Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas identified the slain suspects as Arnel Bagamasbad alias “Arabo” 33, of Block 20 Lot 6, Champaca St., Bgy. NBBS Proper, one alias “Gurang” and one alias “Buwaya”. One alias “Vandam” managed to escape.

The incident happened at around 2:51 a.m. along Champaca St., Agora Market, Bgy. NBBS following a drug sting conducted by elements of Navotas Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by Lt. Eric Roxas.

The suspects, upon sensing that they were dealing with lawmen, drew their firearms and fired towards approaching lawmen while trying to scamper in different directions.

Policemen retaliated and after a few minutes of gunfire, three of the suspects were hit in bodies, killing them instantly. Vandam managed to flee.

Elements of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) who processed the crime scene recovered two caliber .45 pistol, one caliber .9mm pistol, P300 buy-bust money and five large packs containing undetermined quantity of suspected shabu from the slain suspects.

Col. Balasabas said that prior to the operation, his men conducted a weeklong surveillance operation against Bagamasbad group following a tip from concerned citizen regarding their illegal activities.
