MEMBERS of Mandaluyong Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) arrested a couple and their alleged young courier and cosficted P5.4 million worth of illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation yesterday morning.
Mandaluyong Police chief Col. Remigio Sedanto identified the suspect as Joel Sumlay, 46, and his wife Suraida Samad, and their alleged drug courier Kabili Salim, all residents of A Reyes St., Purok 2, Lower Bicutan, Taguig City.
Police Executive Master Sergeant Rodel Tuano, chief of Mandaluyong Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) said the suspects were nabbed during a sting at Block 40, Barangay Addition Hills, at around 11 a.m.
Tuano said Salim was first arrested by SDEU team during a buy-bust. Salim then identified the couple as his source of illegal drugs. The couple was arrested after Salim remitted to them the marked money.
During the arrest, the suspects yielded additional 800 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P5.4 million, weighing scale and buy–bust money.
Meanwhile, more than P.2 million worth of shabu was recovered by the police from Alnaidah Ampaso, 27, of No. 1897 LRC Compound, C. M. Recto, Sta Cruz, Manila, during a buy-bust conducted by Caloocan police yesterday before dawn in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
Alnaidah Ampaso was arrested outside her house by operatives of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P/Capt. Del Cabildo at around 3:50 a.m. after she handed three medium size heat sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu to an undercover cop in exchange for P20,000 marked money.
When frisked, authorities seized from Ampaso another nine medium size plastic sachets of shabu weighing around 60 grams with an estimated street value worth P216,000, weighing scale and the marked money.
Charges for violation of R.A 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects.
