POLICE busted a group of individuals involved in selling unlicensed firearms, ammunition and illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation Saturday evening in Navotas city.
Navotas police chief P/Col. Rolando Balasabas identified the arrested suspects as Ruben Ramirez, 19, of Market 3 Fishport Complex, Bgy. NBBN, Sherneslit Douglas, 28, of 379 Lapu-Lapu St., Shulllee Jabalon, 40, of Galicia Ext,. Bgy. Bangkulasi, Nelson Cordova, 41 of 393 Daisy St. Bgy NBBN, Noli David, 21, of 29 Espina St. and Joel Cañete, 34, of Lot 26 Blk, 3 Bgy. 14 Caloocan City.
Col. Balasabas said the suspects were arrested after a week-long surveillance and casing operation conducted by joint elements of Navotas City Police and District Special Operation Unit of Northern Police District (DSOU-NPD).
A police poseur-buyer was able to buy five pieces of 12-gauge shotgun ammunition from the suspects in the amount of P250 at around 8 p.m. at Market 3 Fishport Complex, Brgy. NBBN that signaled the operatives to swoop down on the area and arrested the group involved in illegal activities.
Seized from the suspects were 26 heat-sealed plastic transparent plastic sachets of shabu containing an undetermined quantity of shabu, several pieces of shotgun ammunition and buy-bust money.
Charges for violation of Section 32 of R.A 10591 or Unlawful Selling of Firearms and Ammunition and violation of Section 5 and 11 of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act will be filed by police against the arrested suspects.
