5 drug suspects yield P.6M shabu

AUTHORITIES seized more than P.6 million worth of shabu from five drug personalities, including a businesswoman, in a buy-bust operation shortly after midnight yesterday in Paranaque city.

Southern Police District (SPD) Director P/Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Peralta identified the arrested suspects as Ali Saliling alias “Apple”, 30, Baikan Mokamad, 47, businesswoman, both of Blk 4 Lot 2 Nora Luisa Subdivision, Valley 8 Bgy. San Antonio, Apolinio Plata, Jr. 39, Melvin Juarez, 25, both of E. Rodriguez St. Bgy. Moonwalk and Francis Darwin Matugina 33 of Area 3A Sitio Libjo, Bgy. Sto Niño.

Gen. Peralta said following a weeklong surveillance operation, elements of Paranaque Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) led by P/Maj.Anthony Alising conducted a buy-bust operation against one alias “Apple” at around 12:50 a.m. in his house in Bgy. San Antonio.

A police poseur-buyer was able to purchase a plastic sachet of shabu using P1,000 marked money from Apple and his cohorts which prompted operatives to effect the arrest.

Seized from the suspects were seven plastic sachets containing shabu weighing 100 grams with standard drug price worth P680,000 a caliber .38 revolver with five live bullets from its cylinder and the P1,000 marked money.

Paranaque police chief P/Col. Robin Sarmiento said charges for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act will be filed against the suspects while an additional case for violation of R.A. 10591 will be filed against one of them before the Paranaque City Prosecutor’s Office.
