FIVE students were injured when the service firearm of a hospital security guard accidentally went off while trying to prevent the victims from taking a shortcut through the hospital compound Sunday night in Tondo, Manila.
Police identified the victims as Shyrill Evite, 14, of 1952 Almeda St., Tondo; Jennelyn Lumio, of 832 Oroquieta St., Sta.Cruz, Manila, Jasmin Miranda, of 66 Sto. Cristo St., Tondo; Prince Emmanuel, 15, of 1166 Wagas St., Tondo, and Mark Andrei Miguel, 13, of 1531 Tindalo St., Tondo, Manila.
Police are now looking for Abel Musiba, of the Elite Force Security assigned at the Metropolitan Medical Center.
Senior Insp. Anthony Co, chief of the Padre Algue Police Community Precinct, said the victims were walking home from a birthday party when they decided to take a shortcut through the hospital compound, from Masangkay gate going to the exit gate on Mayhaligue Street at around 11:45 p.m.
But the suspect, who had his finger ready on the trigger, and another security guard identified as Juneryl Piedad, 43, of 1357 G. Masangkay St., Tondo, stopped the victims from entering the compound. Suddenly the gun went off, hitting the ground and the bullet ricocheted off to the victims.
