50 Chinese nat’ls held for illegal POGO ops

AROUND fifty Chinese nationals were rounded up by authorities for working in an illegal Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGO) Monday evening in Makati City.

Makati police chief P/Col. Oscar Jacildo said combined elements of Station Intelligence Section led by P/Capt. John Patrick Magsalos and Police Sub-Station-3 led by P/Lt. Reyne Baluyan raided the 5th floor of a building at 7299 J Victor St., Brgy. Pio del Pilar at around 9:15 p.m. that resulted in the arrest of 50 Chinese national while in the act of engaging in an illegal online gambling operation under Hua Xin POGO company.

Col. Jacildo said operatives seized several pieces of laptops and electronic gadgets, assorted units of cellular phones with active sim cards, personal computers, broadbands, wifi routers and multiple electronic one-time passcode.

Police said the raid was conducted after a week-long surveillance and intelligence gathering following a tip from concerned citizen about illegal online gambling operation.

During investigation, police learned from Makati Business Permit and Licensing Office that the online gambling operation was not registered in their office.
