SIX persons were injured by stray bullets after a 38-year-old man ran amuck and held a five-year-old boy hostage yesterday morning at the PNR Station in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Manila Police District (MPD) Senior Supt. Vicente Danao said Dominador Abrillo, 38, of Manggahan St., in North Daang Hati, Taguig, was at the PNR Station apparently waiting for a ride at around 9:37 a.m. when he learned that his brother, an overseas Filipino worker, was killed in a police operation in Pampanga.
The suspect, apparently snapped, suddenly grabbed the 9mm service firearm of PNR guard Johnrel Jabonillo, 36, of Dama Noche Street in Camarin, Caloocan City, and fired several shots, injuring six persons, and held hostage Jayson Abtaje, 5.
Members of the Sta. Mesa Police Station (PS-8) responded to the crime scene and asked the suspect to release the victim and surrender. However, the suspect refused to.
However, Abrillo later lay down his firearm after several negotiations, released the child and surrendered to authorities at around 10: 54 a.m.
