6 illegal aliens nabbed by Bureau of Immigration

SIX illegal aliens were arrested by Bureau of Immigration (BI) agents in Mindanao during the past few days as part of the agency’s intensified drive against illegal aliens in the South.

BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the illegal aliens were arrested in separate operations conducted by the bureau’s Mindanao intelligence task group (MITG) based in Davao City.  The arrest stemmed from complaints regarding the activities of the said foreigners in various places in the South.

Armed with mission orders issued by BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, operatives led by BI intelligence officer Melody Gonzales arrested on May 15 in General Santos City Indonesian nationals Jimbirs Da Lema and Supian Undingan, who are allegedly illegal and undocumented aliens were earlier arrested by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Sarangani RFU for selling fake local cigarettes.

The following day, the BI agents proceeded to Tagum City, Davao del Sur and arrested Sri Lankan national Warnakula Weerasuriya Jayathilaka a.k.a. Anton Rowel, based on a complaint alleging that he is an undocumented and overstaying alien.

Later on the same day, the same operatives arrested also in Tagum City Korean national Kim Yoonsig, another undocumented alien who is also in the BI’s blacklist.

On May 17, American national Branden Fitzgerald Dandridge also got arrested for being an undocumented and overstaying alien. He was apprehended at a popular wakeboarding resort in Davao City.

And then on May 20, BI agents arrested in Cagayan de Oro City a certain ‘Tony Co’ also known as Alex Ubalde, an undocumented Chinese national who was allegedly engaged in gainful activity and who admitted to be overstaying in the country for eight years already.

All said aliens will stay at the BI’s detention facility in Davao pending deportation proceedings. They are now the subject of an investigation by BI prosecutors in Davao City.
