Abduction of female Chinese probed

THE Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) yesterday launched an investigation into the abduction of a 28-year old female Chinese national along Paseo de Roxas, Makati City past 9 p.m. Monday.

PNP-AKG director, Brigadier General Jonnel C. Estomo said he has ordered the AKG Luzon Field Unit to fully coordinate with the Makati City Police Station headed by Colonel Rogelio Simon their investigation into the incident which prompted calls for the local police to further step-up their visibility patrol to prevent a repetition of the incident.

Police have found out that the victim is the wife of one of the men who seized her in front of some witnesses triggering suspicions that it could be due to some ‘personal matters.’

A CCTV footage which showed the victim being dragged by three Chinese-looking men inside a gray Kia Carnival with plate no. LSA-880 has gone viral with netizens airing apprehension over the incident and telling the public to beware of possible kidnappers lurking in Makati City.

The incident took place along Paseo de Roxas corner Nieva Street in front of the Salustiana Ty Building at 9:06 p.m. Monday.

Witnesses to the abduction incident told local police investigators that they saw an unidentified female Chinese wearing a face mask casually boarding the van. A few minutes later, the woman alighted from the vehicle and shouted at the top of her voice prompting the male occupants to seize her.

During an investigation, police recovered documents such as the Deed of Sale of the vehicle and photocopies of the identification cards of one Mr. Jian Wei, a resident of Unit 4-C Richview Residence, 33 Ortigas Street, Pasay City and Mr. Chen Tangbin, a resident of Eton Residences in Greenbelt, Legaspi Street in Legaspi Village, Makati City.

The documents were said to have been left by the victim minutes before the incident.

Police said it was possible the victim knew her abductors.

A check showed that the plate no. LSA-880 is originally issued to a 2011 model Mitsubishi L-300 van which was last registered on November 29, 2018.

Simon said they have also found out that the victim is the wife of Chen Tangbin while the L-300 van with plate no. LSA-880 originally was registered to one Feng Cao.
