‘Akyat-Bahay’ suspects kill teener, hurt grandma

A 15-year-old student died while his grandmother was seriously injured when they were stabbed by two suspected members of “Akyat-Bahay” gang who sneaked into their house Sunday before dawn in Malabon City.

Christian Andrew Gonzales succumbed to stab wounds in the neck and body while being rushed to Ospital ng Malabon while his grandmother Elizabeth Gonzales, 58, sustained stab wounds in the body and is still under observation at Chinese General Hospital.

One of the suspects identified as Angelo James Dejados, 28, neighbor of the victims, was arrested in a follow-up operation.

Malabon police homicide investigators SSgt. Romel Germinal II and SSgt. Phillip Cesar Apostol said the victims were sleeping at the ground floor of their two-story house at No. 37 Azucena St. in  Bgy Longos, when the suspects climbed at the wall fence and entered through the window at the second floor at around 4:30 a.m.

Once inside, the suspects took two Iphone cellular phones, a Samsung Galaxy A6, Samsung Note 3 and Nokia cellular phone before they went down stairs to escape.

However, the victims were awakened by the noise created by the suspects. The suspects, apparently afraid of  identified,  stabbed the victims.

Elizabeth, though wounded, got out of the house and seek the help of her neighbors who rushed them to the nearest hospital.

Joint elements of Malabon Police Community Precicnt (PCP) 3 and Special Reaction Unit (SRU) immediately conducted a follow-up operation and arrested Dejados who was identified by Elizabeth.

Police recovered from the suspect the stolen cellphones.
