Albayalde orders probe into kid’s death in Caloocan shooting

PHILIPPINE National Police chief Director General Oscar D. Albayalde yesterday ordered a thorough investigation into death in Camarin, Caloocan  of  a 6-year-old boy  after being caught in a crossfire between a local policeman and a wanted crime offender.

“It’s a very unfortunate incident and we condole with the family of the victim. However, let’s wait for the result of the investigation. As of this time, there is still no official findings that a policeman’s bullet was the one who killed the victim,” Gen. Albayalde said.

He referred to the death of Gian Habal who was hit by a stray bullet while playing outside their house in Barangay 178. The victim’s grandmother was reportedly shot and wounded by the gunman when she tried to prevent the suspect from escaping on board a  motorcycle.

An initial investigation showed that Corporal Rocky de los Reyes exchanged fire with the suspect identified only as alias ‘Botchok’ in the area.
