AFTER placing Barangay 142 under total lockdown at 12:01 am on Saturday, Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan said Barangay 132 will be the next village to be under isolation due to the sudden increase of COVID-19 cases.
In an emergency meeting on Friday evening convened by Mayor Oca and attended by city hall health officials and department heads, they unanimously agreed to place Barangay 132 in total lockdown next week after 36 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded.
The mayor said health workers will start to conduct contact tracing at the said barangay while the health officials will advise residents in the area to undergo swab testing administered by the city government.
He also assured that every household will be provided food packs during the lockdown period, just like they did to some 2,900 residents of barangay 142 after placing the same on total lockdown.
"Araw-araw ang ating pagmomonitor sa mga kaso ng Covid19 sa bawat barangay. Ginagawa natin ang lahat ng makakaya para mapabilis ang contact tracing upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng virus," Mayor Oca said.
The City Health Department has recorded a total of 2,738 cases of COVID-19 with 1,526 recoveries and 117 deaths as of Friday evening.
