Anti-crime ops: 5 held

FIVE men wanted for drugs and other criminal offenses were arrested by agents of the Police Regional Office 2 in separate anti-crime operations in the region on Tuesday and Wednesday, PRO12 director, Brigadier General Alfred S. Corpus reported yesterday.

Two of the suspects were known drug personalities in Central Mindanao whose names are in the PRO12 watch list, the official said. Corpus identified the two as Mark James Villaruz, a 21-year old student from Purok 4, Barangay Bual in Tulunan, Cotabato and Rhodelene Morales,25, of Sitio Morales, Bgy. Centrala in Surallah, South Cotabato.

Corpus said that Villaruz yielded two heat-sealed plastic sachets containing around one gram of shabu worth P6,800 and a marked P500 bill during the entrapment operation conducted by members of the PRO12 Regional Drug Enforcement Unit and the Cotabato City Police Office along the diversion road in Kidapawan City at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The 2nd identified as Morales was arrested in a sting in his neighborhood past 5:30 p.m. The suspect yielded a plastic sachet with shabu and a marked P500 bill.

The 3rd suspect identified as Arnel Alibo, 32, a farmer from Bgy. Aurelio Freires Sr. in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat was arrested for violation of the gun ban.

The 4th, Nestor Alicna, 55, a resident of Bgy. Luma in Kiamba, Sarangani province was arrested on the basis of a warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Jose Fulgar of the Alabel, Sarangani RTC Branch 47 with no bail recommended.

The 5th, Maynard Sulmaca,34,  a resident of Purok 4, Bgy. Biwang in Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat was arrested for illegal possession of a home-made gun loaded with an M-79 ammunition.
