Security personnel of Araneta Cubao Central Business District surrendered some P200,000 worth of suspected marijuana they discovered in a trash bin.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Chief Supt. Joselito T. Esquivel Jr. said that at about 11 p.m. on Saturday, security guard Jessie Atis was doing the rounds at the vicinity of Araneta Center when he noticed a backpack in an open garbage bin.
He checked the bag and discovered three rolled plastic wrap and one brick plastic wrap of suspected dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops.
He immediately reported the incident to their security office which coordinated with Cubao Police Station (PS 7) under Supt. Giovanni Hycenth Caliao for the turnover of approximatly two kilos of suspected marijuana.
Meanwhile, 24 drug suspects were arrested in the latest anti-illegal drugs and anti-criminality operations in Quezon City.
PS 7 operatives arrested three persons in separate buy-bust operations.
La Loma Police Station (PS 1) arrested two drug suspects; Novaliches Police Station (PS 4) arrested three and confiscated 11 sachets of shabu.
Fairview Police Station (PS 5) operatives nabbed two drug suspects included on the barangay drug watchlist.
Batasan Police Station (PS 6) arrested eight suspects in separate buy-bust operations in Bgy. Payatas.
Anonas Police Station (PS 9) arrested two drug suspects in Bgys. Pansol and Botocan.
Galas Police Station (PS 11) arrested three suspects for smoking in public place during the Simultaneous Anti Criminality Law Enforcement Office (SACLEO), and when asked to empty their pockets, each of them yielded a sachet of shabu.
Eastwood Police Station (PS 12) arrested one suspect in a buy-bust operation along Calle Industria, Bgy. Bagumbayan. Confiscated were two sachets of dried marijuana leaves, drug paraphernalia and the buy-bust money.
The drug suspects were charged with violation of RA 9165 or The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
