BARANGAY BF Homes, the largest residential community in the country and even in Asia, has now the highest number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the entire Paranaque City, with 128 confirmed cases.
Report reaching the office of Mayor Edwin Olivares showed that the number of COVID-19 cases in the entire Paranaque has also risen to 1,072 from 1,024, an increase of 26 as of 5 p.m. of June 29, the City Health Office confirmed.
Dr. Darius Sebastian, chief of the City’s Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU), said that out of the 125 confirmed cases in Barangay BF Homes, 52 are active cases
Sebastian said that there have been recent spikes, like the 28 active cases on June 25 and 42 new cases on June 26 or up by 14 active cases, the biggest single day increase of infections in the subdivision.
“There are only 101 confirmed COVID-19 cases in BF Homes on June 25 but it jumps to 128 this Monday, June 29, or four days after,” he explained.
Sebastian said they have recorded only 101 confirmed cases on June 25 in the entire gated subdivision but it climbed to 115 the following day. Only June 27, it rose to 126 confirmed cases and soar 125 confirmed cases on June 28 and reaches to 128 last Monday.
The middle-class subdivision has also the highest number of fatalities among the city’s 16 barangays, with nine since the pandemic started last March.
“New coronavirus cases are going up every day in BF Homes. It started when residents disregarded health protocols when the national government placed the entire Metro Manila in general community quarantine,” Sebastian said.
However, he said, the city health office has confirmed 738 or 68.8 percent recoveries as of Monday, the highest record in the entire Metro Manila.
In the same health office data, the fatalities in the entire city had risen to 57 or 5.3 percent as of Monday.
