AS part of its effort to help the Bureau of Corrections address drug trafficking and other corrupt activities in the New Bilibid Prisons, the National Capital Region’s Quad-Intel Force will be providing the agency with the names of erring prison officials and guards as well as convicts who are in their watchlist, Metro Manila police director, Major General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar said yesterday.
“We will be providing the BuCor with the names of their personnel who are in cahoots with convicted drug lords who continue to run their illegal drug activities right inside the New Bilibid Prisons,” the official said.
Eleazar said he has assured BuCor Director General Gerald Bantag that they will furnish them with the names of rogue prison officials and guards as well as the suspected drug lords they are working for in order for him to craft security measures aimed at arresting their illegal activities even inside the national penitentiary.
The official said that the names of BuCor personnel as well as NBP inmates who are involved in illegal drug activities and other irregularities inside the national penitentiary were based on information and intelligence reports forwarded to the four members of the Quad-Intel Force namely the NCRPO, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-NCR, National Bureau of Investigation-NCR and the Joint Task Force-NCR of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
