A SUSPECTED Bureau of Immigration ‘fixer’ was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG) during an entrapment operation inside SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City last Monday, PNP-IMEG director, Colonel Romeo M. Caramat Jr. announced yesterday.
The official said they conducted the sting which resulted in the arrest of Brigeda Quijano following a complaint from a woman named Judith Francisco who said the suspect offered to help her facilitate the release of her detained German friend Michael ‘Hyco’ Lagarde in exchange for P150,000. The offer was made when the complainant visited the jailed foreigner.
“The complainant said that she was asked by the suspect to give her P150,000 in order to facilitate the non-deportation of her German friend and have him released from the BI jail in Bicutan, Taguig City,” said Caramat.
The PNP-IMEG director said that at around 4:40 p.m. Monday, his men arrested the suspect shortly after she received the marked money from the complainant.
Caramat said they got the information that the German natonal has been detained at the BI lock-up facility in Bicutan for almost nine months now for violation of the country’s immigration law.
The suspect is now being held at the PNP-IMEG headquarters pending the filing of robbery-extortion charges against her, said Caramat.
