A police officer assigned in Valenzuela City Police Station died after his motorcycle was hit and dragged by a speeding passenger bus before noon Sunday in Caloocan City.
PO1 Christian Villanueva, 27, of 42 Roxas Anda, Pangasinan, succumbed to massive head and body injuries while being rushed to Manila Central University (MCU) Hospital while the driver of Commuters bus with conduction sticker RA-1577 identified as Rey Trajada, 32, of Bgy. San Vicente, Biñan, Laguna, was placed under arrest after the incident.
Caloocan police traffic investigator PO1 Hilbert Tumabcao said the incident happened at the corner of B. Serrano Street and 11th Avenue, past 10 a.m.
The victim, on board a Mio Sporty motorcycle with no license plate issued, was travelling along 11th Avenue towards A. Bonifacio Avenue when he was hit by a speeding bus.
Due to the impact, the motorcycle was dragged several meters while the victim was thrown off the motorcycle and landed on the cemented pavement, causing severe injuries in his head.
PO1 Tumabcao said the incident was captured by a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in a nearby gas station which will be used as evidence in filing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property against the bus driver before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
