THE Caloocan City government has rendered medical assistance to a jeepney driver who met an accident on the road while begging for alms along Mindanao Avenue.
Aside from medical assistance, Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan requested the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to provide livelihood assistance to Rodel Roldan, 45 of Brgy. 33, Caloocan city to make a living while still recuperating from injuries he sustained during the accident.
Roldan, who was among those jeepney drivers who lost their jobs due to COVID-19, was forced to beg for money to feed his family.
While begging for alms, Roldan met an accident last February 16, 2021, prompting Mayor Oca to instruct the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) to provide necessary medical assistance after listening his story over the radio.
Personnel of CSWD immediately visited Roldan at his residents and brought him to Caloocan City Medical Center to undergo laboratory test and to check the foot injury he sustained after falling from the running truck he was clinging.
Mayor Oca said Roldan will receive continuous medication at the CCMC until his foot injuries completely healed.
“Nandito po ang inyo pong Pamahalaang Lungsod para umagapay sa mga mamamayan na labis na naapektuhan ng pandemya. Isa lang po si Rodel sa libu-libong naging biktima ng epekto ng pandemya at hindi po tayo papayag na hindi natin siya matutulungan, sampu ng mga mamamayan na apektado ng unos na ito,” Mayor Oca said.Publication Source : People's Tonight
