Caloocan cops haul addicts in raid

AT least 21 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets of shabu, unlicensed firearm and high grade dried marijuana leaves were seized by a police from eight drug personalities, including a 15-year-old minor, during the implementation of search warrant yesterday morning in Caloocan City.

Caloocan police chief Col. Noel Flores said joint elements of Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 2 and Northern Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (NPD-CIDG) implemented a search warrant issued by Caloocan Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Ma. Teresa De Guzman of Branch 131 and arrested Rovick Martinez, 18, in his house at Thin Shellhouse, Dagat-Dagatan, at around 6 a.m. for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act.

Policemen led by Maj. Merben Bryan Lago recovered from Martinez an unlicensed cal. 38 revolver with five bullets while seven others, including a 15-year-old minor, were caught in the act of sniffing shabu.

They were identified as Ruby Villota, 37, Reniel Rotap, 24, Raymond Caoc, 18, John Villota, 18, John Michael De Jesus, 22, Ryan Ovelias, 35 and the minor suspect who was later turned over to the Caloocan City Social Welfare Department for proper disposition.

Charges for violation of R.A 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act will be filed against the arrested suspects while additional charges of R.A 10591 and violation of Section 6 Article II of R.A 9165 or maintenance of a den will be filed against Martinez before the Caloocan City Prosecutor’s Office.
