A 40-year-old mother who was about to visit her son in jail was arrested after she forgot to remove the aluminum foil that had contained the shabu she had used Sunday afternoon in Pasig City.
Celia Birol, 40, of Phase 2, Block 14, Bugin, in Bgy. Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, was arrested at the inspection gate of the Pasig City Jail after a drug paraphernalia with traces of shabu was found in her eyeglasses case.
The suspect was about to enter city jail premises located at Molave St., Nagpayong, Bgy. Pinagbuhatan, to visit her son who was detained on drug charges last year, when the drug paraphernalia was discovered when she was frisked.
Jail Officer 1 Mashara Maribel Ganan said she noticed the suspect was acting suspiciously while being frisked. She later found three pieces of aluminum foil with traces of shabu in suspect’s eyeglasses case placed in a bag together with food and other items she brought for her son in jail.
Police learned that Birol was a drug user and forgot to remove the shabu paraphernalia in her things.
“Gumamit sya muna bago magpunta sa kulungan para bisitahin ang anak, nakalimutan nya na nabitbit nya yung drug paraphernalia at nalagay sa lalagyan ng salamin kaya nahuli sya,” a police investigator said.
The suspect was charged with violation of Section 12 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) of the Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehnsive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
