INTELLIGENCE operatives of the Bureau of Immigration arrested Tuesday night the Chinese woman who threw “taho” (soy bean curd drink) at a police officer at the Metro Rail Transit station in Boni last February 9, this time for violating immigration laws.

BI Spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval said the operatives with a Mission Order signed by BI Commissioner Jaime Morente arrested Zhang Jiale, 23, for violating immigration laws.

“Zhang has already been charged as an undesirable alien for posing risk to public interest,” said Sandoval. “Her actions showed disrespect towards persons of authority, which also shows disrespect to our country.”

Sandoval said Zhang may face deportation and eventually blacklisted following the incident. The bureau is expected to resolve her case in the next few weeks.

Zhang posted bail for direct assault, disobedience to an agent of a person in authority, and unjust vexation charges recommended by the Mandaluyong City prosecutor’s office.

Sandoval clarified that Zhang’s court case and her immigration case are two different matters.  “Her court case will run independent from her immigration case. If found deportable, we will wait for the resolution of the court case before implementing the deportation,” she added.

Zhang is now detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig pending deportation proceedings.
