FOUR suspected members of a land-grabbing syndicate operating in Caloocan City were arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group during an entrapment operation on Tuesday, PNP-CIDG director, Major General Amador V. Corpus announced yesterday.

The official identified the arrested suspects as Annaliza Mendez,40; Mary Grace Madrideo,30; Roberto Mazarate,55; and Giovanni Ignacio,35.

Corpus said that the four were arrested while in the act of receiving P550,000 in marked money from a complainant near the vicinity of 3G Notary Public in Zapote Street, Maligaya Park, North Caloocan, Caloocan City.

The arrests were made by members of the CIDG Anti-Fraud and Commercial Crimes Unit headed by Lieutenant Colonel Bayani Razalan following a complaint from one Noel Pagtakhan.

The victim said that the four have duped a number of unsuspecting persons including him into buying properties with fraudulent Land Registration Authority papers in Camarin. The four have posed as the lawful owners of the properties they were selling, the complainant said.

All suspects are now being held at the CIDG-AFCCU office in Camp Crame where charges for violation of estafa committed in collusion with others under the Revised Penal Code are being readied against them, said Corpus.
