THE SEPTIC tank manhole of a high-rise condominium burst damaging two vehicles parked near the sewage depository on Sunday night in Pasig City.
A report from the Eastern Police District (EPD) said the incident happened at the Hampton Garden Condominium in Barangay Maybunga, Pasig City.
Police said the breather vent of the manhole was covered causing methane gas to build up underneath eventually causing the explosion.
Security Guard James Patrick Mollijon was manning his post at the lobby of the condo when he heard a loud explosion coming from the parking lot of the condominium tower at around 10:30 p.m.
Upon checking, he found the cover of the building’s septic tank was blown apart and the cemented bricks of the parking pavement were shattered.
A parked white Honda Jazz and blue Ford Fiesta were also damaged.
Inspection made by Pasig City Explosive Ordnance Division-Special Weapons and Tactics Team (EOD-SWAT) said the explosion came from the septic tank of the condominium building and no fragments of bomb or any improvised explosive device were found in the parking area.
