MEMBERS of Pasig Police who were about to serve a warrant of arrest had to plunge into the river in pursuit of the wanted suspect who jumped to avoid arrest on Saturday.
Lieutenant Jose Drexell Molina, Pasig Police Community Precint (PCP-3) commander, said his men swam in the river in Bgy. Kalawaan in Pasig City at around 2 p.m. to chase the suspect who was later apprehended and identified as Mark Lester Rodrigo , jobless and resident of No.48 V Pozon St., Bgy. Bambang, Pasig City.
According to Molina, Rodrigo faces a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Elma M.Rafallo Lingan, of Pasig City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 159 for a crime of Homicide under Criminal Case No. 18-00856-CR.
Court records showed the suspect along with his two minor sons and another man mauled the victim identified as Bryan Reyes, 22, of Bgy. Bambang and two other companions along G. Valderama St., Bgy. Bambang on March 10,2018.
Reyes and his companions were on their way home when they were approached by Rodrigo’s group. Without any provocations, the suspects attacked the victims with a steel pipe and stone .
Report said, the trio decided to jump into the river to escape from the attack.
After an hour, Reyes’ companion surfaced but Reyes went missing.
Two days later, Reyes was found floating into the river infront of Guadalupe Bliss, J.P. Rizal St., Bgy.Cembo, Makati City by Security Personnel of Makati Park and Garden.
The body of the victim was fished out from the water by the rescue teams.
The three other suspects were collared by Pasig Police early this year while Rodrigo was nabbed on Saturday by the police after they received an information that he returned to his community.
Molina said Rodrigo was walking along V. Pozon, Bgy. Bambang, Pasig City when he saw the approaching cops about to arrest him so he immediately ran and jumped into the river to avoid arrest .
