Cops slay 2 drug peddlers in Caloocan encounter

TWO of the three notorious drug peddlers were killed when they engaged lawmen in a shootout in a buy-bust operation shortly after midnight yesterday in Caloocan City.

Caloocan Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 commander Chief Insp Raymond Nicolas said the suspects, identified only as certain Bert and Nad succumbed to bullet wounds in their bodies while being rushed to Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital while one alias “Boy Negro” managed to escape.

The three, according to the police were the suppliers of illegal drugs in Barangay Bagong Silang prompting joint elements of Caloocan Police Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) and PCP-3 to conduct buy-bust operation at around 12:45 a.m. along Phase 8A Road Package 7, Bgy. 176.

However, while PO1 Ariel Conseja and PO1 Rynan Ricomano who acted as poseur-buyers handed the P2,000 marked money in exchange for a pack of shabu, the suspects pulled out their respective handguns after sensing that they were dealing with undercover cops and engaged lawmen in a shootout.

After a brief exchange of gunfire, the two drug suspects were hit in their bodies while their cohort managed to flee.

Police said they recovered from the slain suspects two caliber .38 revolver, six plastic sachets of shabu, several pieces of drug paraphernalia and the P2,000 marked money.
