A 53-year-old driver who tried to commit suicide by shooting himself twice miraculously survived yesterday morning in Valenzuela City.
Jervin Ganaden, of No. 10 Pag-asa Subdivision, Bgy. Marulas admitted to the police that he shot himself twice, hitting his chest and forehead, while inside the comfort room of their house at around 7:15 a.m.
Valenzuela police chief P/Col. David Nicolas Poklay said the incident was discovered by the driver’s wife Consorcia who heard gunshots coming from their comfort room.
Consorcia forcibly opened the door of their comfort room and saw her husband sitting on the bowl with gunshot wounds in the chest and forehead.
The victim’s wife relayed the incident to her relatives who sought the assistance of Valenzuela Rescue Unit in bringing Ganaden to Valenzuela Medical Center where he is presently confined.
Relatives of the victim surrendered the cal. 38 revolver with four live ammunition and two empty shells to the elements of Valenzuela Police Community Precinct (PCP) 3 who responded.
The motive behind the suicide attempt has yet to be determined.
