FOUR motorcycle-riding men shot dead a 31-year-old company driver in Sta. Cruz, Manila early yesterday morning.
A streetsweeper was wounded in the process.
Johnny Etchore, a driver of Phillipine Span Asia Carrier Corporation, residing at 154 Quirino St., Tondo, died on the spot while streetsweeper Belsie Ritor, 49, suffered gunshot wounds in the stomach and hands although she is now in stable condition.
The four armed men meanwhile, escaped aboard two plateless motorcycles.
Det. Jonathan Bautista of the Manila Police District-Homicide Section said the shooting took place at 5:38 a.m. at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Quiricada Streets in Sta.Cruz.
The victim was driving a gray Suzuki (UE-6373) to fetch someone at the Bambang LRT station when the suspects drove alongside him and fired repeatedly, killing him on the spot and wounding Ritor who just happened to be in the area during the incident.
