AN alleged drug suspect, who reportedly poses as a cop in his drug and extortion activities, was killed by operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) after he allegedly engaged them in a shooting encounter during a buy-bust operation in Tondo, Manila, yesterday.
Benjo Villanueva, of Bldg. 17, Vitas Katuparan, Bgy. 101, Tondo, Manila, was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital where he was brought for treatment of gunshot wounds in the body.
Senior Insp. Dave Abarra of the MPD-Station 1 said the encounter took place at around 3:30 a.m. at the roof of the four-storey apartment where the suspect stayed.
During the operation, the suspect was said to have sensed that he was dealing with a cop so he fired at the police but missed, until the cops fired back, hitting him in different parts of the body.
Meantime, the suspect’s wife, Rowena, was also nabbed for allegedly selling drugs alongside her husband.
Benjo is said to be number two on the list of ‘most wanted persons’ of the MPD due to a murder case he is facing. He surrendered in May and once he got out of jail after posting bail, he allegedly began selling shabu.
Last September 19, he was charged with violation of Republic Act 7610 after he reportedly hit a young girl’s head with the butt of a gun, after she refused to follow his order to pick up some shabu for him.
