Drug suspect tries to shoot cop, shot died

A SUSPECTED drug personality was killed when he tried to shoot a patrolling police officer Friday evening in Caloocan City

Northern Police District (NPD) Director P/Brig. Gen. Ronald Ylagan said the suspect, identified as Ronald Aguinaldo, 40, of Brgy. 176 Bagong Silang, died on the spot from gunshot wounds in the body.

Prior to the incident, P/Cpl. Joe Laurence Balinggao of Bagong Silang West Sub-Station 12 was conducting foot patrol along Phase 9 Package 3, Bgy. Bagong Silang at around 7:30 p.m. when he chanced upon the suspect who was walking half naked with an improvised gun tucked in his waist.

Balinggao tried to approach Aguinaldo but the latter drew his firearm and shot the police officer but the gun misfired.

Sensing that his life was in danger, Balinggao drew his service firearm and shot the suspect in the body, killing him instantly.

Elements of the NPD Crime Laboratory Office led by P/Maj. Argentina Casino responded to the crime scene and recovered from the slain suspect an improvised gun loaded with live ammunition and two heat-sealed plastic sachet containing undetermined quantity of shabu.
