HEALTH Secretary Francisco Duque III commended the city government of Navotas for its success in its response against the Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic.
Duque and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, among other members of the COVID-19 Vaccine Coordinated Operations to Defeat Epidemic (CODE) Team, visited the Navotas Polytechnic College to inspect the city’s cold room and vaccination center.
In his speech, Duque noted that “Navotas City is worth acknowledging and recognizing because of its success in its COVID-19 pandemic response.”
Duque said the city has 2% positivity rate, 3.4% lower than the national positivity rate. It also logged the lowest case fatality rate at 1.7%, compared to the 2% national fatality rate. He also mentioned that the city recorded 1.53% average daily attack rate for the last two weeks, -17.5% two-week growth rate, and zero healthcare utilization rate.
The City Health Office presented Navotas’ vaccination rollout plan, noting that the city aims to inoculate 107,000 eligible vaccines across 20 vaccination sites. It also targets to vaccinate 100 individuals per day per site or a total of 2,000 daily.
“We have conducted a series of dry runs to keep our vaccination teams ready for any eventuality. We want our rollout safe and smooth that’s why we also study the vaccination procedures of other countries so we may learn from their experiences,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
Cong. John Rey Tiangco for his part conveyed the city’s plan to address low vaccine confidence.Publication Source : People's Tonight
