Eastern Police Distric chief follows carrot and stick policy

HARDWORKING policemen will be rewarded, lazy and dishonest personnel penalized.

This was the warning issued by Eastern Police District (EPD) director PBrig. General Christopher Tambungan following the relief of his two police officials.

Tambungan ordered the relief of PCpt Claro Miparanum and PSMS Gregorio Zapata, (PCP- 4 Commander  and Deputy Commander of the San Juan Police  Community Precinct (PCP-4), respectively.

It was learned that Miparanum was relieved after the EPD director conducted a surprise inspection before the May 13 elections and found out that Miparanum was not on duty and went home despite the PNP being on full alert.

“As PCP Commander dapat nandun sya sa office dahil before election naka-full alert na ang buong PNP. Nangatwiran sa akin outgoing siya at pamilyado nung makausap ko. Hindi ko sya matawagan nung oras na iyon eh may gulo sa lugar nya tapos eto sinabi sa akin,” Tambungan told the Journal Group.

Zapata on the other hand was charged with dishonesty and violation of Tamang Bihis.

“Paiba -iba sagot nya nung pinag-explain ko kung nasaan ang commander n’ya,  napakasinungaling,” the EPD top official also explained.

Tambungan reiterated he will not tolerate policemen who are not performing their duties or cannot come up with a quality accomplishment.

He said he is willing to encourage policemen to be more driven in their work and motivate them to come up with quality accomplishment so they will be rewarded while lazy and dishonest cops will be penalized.

“This may serve as warning to other EPD personnel to improve their work attitude and performance,” the EPD director added.

Tambungan urged his men to keep up the good work and set a good example to other men in uniform.
