AN ex-policeman who was allegedly involved in illegal drugs was killed in an ambush by two motorcycle riding men Saturday afternoon in Pasay City.
Former Taguig City policeman PO1 Darwin Cruzin, 40, of No. 2300 Tramo Street, in Bgy. 64, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
Pasay City police chief Col. Bernard Yang said Cruzin was driving his tricycle on Arnaiz Avenue at around 3:45 p.m. when the suspects suddenly appeared at the corner of Burgos Street and opened fire on him.
Cruzin was the younger brother of former Manila cop Alvin Cruzin who retired in 2009 to run as councilor in the second district of Pasay City but lost.
Alvin, a known casino financier, together with lawyer Elmer Mitra, Jr. were killed on June 1, 2017. Alvin allegedly tried to prevent members of Anti-Illegal Drugs Unit of Pasay City from arresting Darwin who was caught selling drugs in a buy-bust on Libertad Street last November 23, 2012.
Darwin and his neighbor Paul Christian Gratil yielded three plastic sachets of shabu. Two guns were allegedly confiscated from Alvin’s group who were with his brother during the buy-bust.
